The Adept Technology GmbH Company from Dortmund, Germany, has offered free software for programming Adept e-Vario SCARA robots. The Adept e-Vario Teacher or “Adept e-VT” features a tabular-interface, making robot programming easier for users. The robot is moved into position either manually or through the software interface by a simple press of a key. The robot’s position is easily recorded by the click of the mouse. With Adept e-VT, teaching a simple pick-and-place application takes only a few minutes, including parameterizing the input and output signals, defining the individual speed, and driving the gripper. Only 2–3 h of training is required to use the software solution and extensive programming experience is not necessary. In addition, Adept introduced, in August 2011, a tool for complete offline robot programming. The software is based on Adept ACE and allows the entire robot controller to be virtually displayed in the PC.
