The Ukraine intends to export 20–21m t of cereals

According to an announcement by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, the Ukraine is in a position to export 20–21m t of cereals in this business year. According to the Minister, this amount is based on a carry-forward of 10m t of cereals from last year and this year’s expected yield of 45–46m t. The announcement also says that up to now the Ukraine has harvested 12.1m t of wheat and 5.5m t of barley. The Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov told the press on 26 July 2012 that the country aims to double agricultural production. As he explained, the plan is to increase cereals production to 80–100m t per year.
