Qatar to buy agricultural area in Australia

According to a report from the International Grain Council, the Arabian state of Qatar is providing a budget of AUD 484m (approx. EUR 367.6m) to acquire 186,000 ha of farmland in Australia. The purchaser is the state-owned company Hassad, which has been searching for several years for sources of food supply for Qatar. “The company’s primary aim is to source around 35% of Qatar’s grain and livestock needs from Australia,” it was stated.
