Frutarom acquires EAFI

Israelian group Frutarom Ltd., Haifa, announced to acquire the activities and assets of Britsh East Anglian Food Ingredients Ltd (EAFI) for approximately GBP 3m. EAFI produces savory taste solutions as flavors, seasoning compounds, and functional ingredients for the food industry. Frutaroms presence in Europe has grown significantly in recent years following a number of acquisitions like the savory activity of Chr. Hansen, Gewurzmüller and Nesse in Germany (acquired in 2009, 2007 and 2006 respectively). End of December 2010 Frutarom acquired the Scandinavian industrial spices savory activities of Rieber & Son.

Established in 1933, Frutarom Palestine Ltd., as it was initially known, combined the cultivation of aromatic plants and flowers with the extraction and distillation of flavors, fine ingredients and essential oils. The company's foundation was promoted by Professor Haim Weizman, the first President of the State of Israel and a known chemist. Today Frutarom is a global player with subsidiaries in USA, UK, Switzerland, Germany, France, Russia, Nederland, Belgium, China, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan. 2008 sales were USD 473.3m.
