Interpack 2011

The world’s biggest packaging trade fair, interpack PROCESSES AND PACKAGING, takes place in Düsseldorf every three years. The time has come round again this year and the show will be held in 19 fully booked halls from 12 to 18 May

2,700 exhibitors from 60 countries, 174,000 m² of exhibition space and 19 fully booked halls – the figures for the 2011 interpack look positive. The trade fair can be divided into three sub-areas: firstly, processes and machines to pack food, drinks, pharmaceuticals & cosmetics, consumer goods (non-food) and industrial goods, which with ten halls make up the lion’s share of the hall area. Secondly, the area of packagings, packing materials and packaging manufacture, which occupies slightly more than four halls. Thirdly, processes and machines for confectionery and baked goods, which has recorded growth when compared to 2008: the corresponding companies now completely fill Halls 1-4. Individual exhibitors from all the product areas will present in the trade fair’s open-air space. There will be an additional exhibition on the subject of SAVE FOOD in the pavilion between Halls 10 and 16. For this, the Düsseldorf Trade Fair and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) have issued an invitation to a congress on 16 and 17 May 2011, which will focus on the area of tension between nutrition, packing and sustainability.

How to get there

Having organized the interpack trade fair for many years, the Messe Düsseldorf GmbH Company is well-equipped for the crowds of people attending during the seven days. The trade fair exhibition grounds are only a short distance (3 km as the crow flies) from the Düsseldorf airport and the 77 airlines who take off and land there. Anyone who is interested can reach the interpack quickly by taxi or by using the special shuttle service, the No. 896 bus. Düsseldorf central railway station is also not far away: the subway trains U78 and U79 run a frequent service to the trade fair grounds. The U 78 service stops close to the East entrance and directly at the North entrance, and the U79 service stops close to the East entrance. The journey time is approx. 15 minutes. The state of North Rhine-Westphalia also has a very highly developed motorway network, so arriving by car is no problem either. The signs pointing to the trade fair guide you directly to the two large parking lots P1 and P2. The free shuttle buses (Shuttle Bus 897) take you from there to the trade fair entrances.
